Ashbourne Plastic "Oh No" Band*

In an effort to attract younger players to the band, Ashbourne Town Band have recently invested in a number of high quality plastic cornets. These instruments are becoming ever more popular with schools as they are more durable than the equivalent brass versions and less prone to damage if dropped. In a recent review, a leading brass band web site concluded that overall ” the cornets offer a very good standard of quality and characteristics in all four areas tested”.
The cornets will be allocated to younger players as they are a fraction of the weight of their metal equivalent, are easier for young hands to hold and sound just like the real thing.
The Ashbourne band are currently visiting local schools as part of their recruitment drive to attract more players to the band. Players of any age are welcome to have a go and an instrument and tuition is provided free of charge to all potential players age 8 years and over. The Training band meets at St John's Community Hall in Ashbourne on a Sunday evening from 6pm until 7pm.
